In a recent announcement shared on social media, the Syrian Ministry of Interior revealed a startling discovery made by its Anti-Narcotics Unit in the Zebedani district of Damascus. The team unearthed an unusual hiding place for illegal substances — a grave where traffickers had carefully concealed a large quantity of drugs.
During the operation, security officers seized 323 packages of marijuana and nearly 35,000 Captagon pills. Authorities stated that the investigation remains ongoing as efforts continue to trace and apprehend those responsible for the smuggling attempt.
Ongoing Crackdown on Drug Trafficking
This latest find comes amid a wider campaign by Syrian authorities to curb narcotics operations across the country. In a related incident last October, police dismantled a major drug network in Damascus, intercepting approximately 23 million Captagon pills that were reportedly intended for export. These coordinated efforts reflect the government’s intensified strategy to disrupt criminal organizations and reduce illegal drug distribution in the region.
