The Global Sumud Fleet resumes its Gaza mission after an earlier Israeli intervention, renewing international focus on aid, solidarity, and access.

The Global Sumud Fleet has departed from Marmaris to deliver aid to Gaza after a previous Israeli intervention in international waters. The fleet consists of 54 vessels and continues its route toward Gaza.
The flotilla includes around 500 activists from 45 countries and is sailing at an average speed of 5 knots, 27 miles east of the island of Rhodes.
Activists departing from the port of Marmaris said that while international attention has shifted to other developments, including the war in Iran, the blockade of Gaza continues and aid access remains a priority.
Previous Israeli Intervention
The flotilla had previously departed from Spain on 12 April, but Israeli forces intercepted vessels in the group, took more than 100 pro-Palestinian activists to Crete, and detained two people in Israel.
Katy Davidson, an activist from the British delegation, said the British government had taken no action regarding the incident and recalled that a previous attempt had also been blocked between Sicily and Crete.
Davidson stated that even if the fleet does not reach Gaza, any new intervention could again draw international attention to developments in the region.
Statements From Activists
Turkish activist Seyma Denli Yalvac said the lack of media coverage would not affect their plans, stating that the group would continue its mission regardless.
Last October, the Israeli military intercepted another flotilla organized by the same group and detained more than 450 participants, including Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.
Humanitarian Conditions in Gaza
Despite the ceasefire, conditions in Gaza remain difficult. Most of the population of more than two million people has been displaced.
Many residents are trying to survive in damaged homes, makeshift roadside tents, or among the rubble of collapsed buildings.
Israel, which controls all entry and exit points to the Gaza Strip, rejects allegations that it is preventing supplies from reaching the local population.
