Iran Says It Is Trying to Preserve Ceasefire to Keep Diplomacy Open
Iran says it is trying to preserve the ceasefire to keep diplomacy open, signaling a bid to ease tensions and sustain talks.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the government is working to preserve the ceasefire in order to keep the door open for diplomacy.
He stated that Iran is willing to engage in negotiations only if the other side demonstrates serious intent.
“We do not trust the Americans,” Araghchi said, adding that the current negotiation process is facing difficulties because of a lack of trust.
The statements from Tehran came as diplomatic contacts continued over regional tensions and the ceasefire process.
Iranian officials said mutual trust remains a key requirement for progress in diplomacy.
