Millî Reasürans enhances collaboration with Northern Cyprus by delivering specialized insurance training to boost sector expertise.
Millî Reasürans recently hosted a specialized training initiative for Gürsel Gürbüz, the Director of the Money, Exchange, and Development Fund Affairs Department under the Ministry of Finance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, along with his team. The three-day program, held in Istanbul, served as a platform for professional knowledge exchange focused on insurance and reinsurance operations.
The comprehensive training was structured to enhance participants’ understanding of insurance fundamentals while diving deep into reinsurance practices, claims processes, and technical reserves. Through this initiative, Millî Reasürans reaffirmed its vision of fostering regional cooperation and promoting continuous learning in the financial and insurance sectors.
The first day featured lectures by Prof. Dr. Özgür Akpınar from Marmara University’s Faculty of Financial Sciences, who engaged participants in sessions on the core principles of insurance and automobile insurance applications through case-based learning. These sessions laid a strong foundation by linking theory with real-world claims management scenarios.
On the second day, discussions led by Millî Reasürans’ expert team emphasized basic insurance branches, optional reinsurance acceptances, and a detailed introduction to retrocession. The participants gained insights into how global reinsurance structures operate and how such mechanisms can support local market dynamics in Northern Cyprus.
The final day of the program focused on claims administration and financial reporting processes. Practical examples were shared under topics such as non-auto damage applications and accounting transactions in Cyprus agreements, equipping participants with applicable skills for their daily operations.
The event concluded with a certificate ceremony on October 15, celebrating the successful completion of the training. Through this collaborative effort, Millî Reasürans once again highlighted its commitment to professional development and cross-border knowledge sharing in the field of insurance and reinsurance.
