Allianz UK has announced pivotal appointments in its commercial division, designating Adam Lloyd as the new Chief Underwriting Officer and Claire Buck as the Chief Technical Officer—a newly created role. These appointments, effective from April 14, will see both Lloyd and Buck reporting to Phuong Ly, the incoming Managing Director for Allianz Commercial in the UK, who will begin his tenure on April 1. All appointments are subject to regulatory approval.
Adam Lloyd’s Expertise
Lloyd brings a wealth of experience, exceeding 15 years with Allianz Australia. His contributions in both underwriting and sales have been substantial, playing a crucial role in defining portfolio strategy and underwriting governance.
Claire Buck’s Track Record
Buck boasts nearly two decades of experience at Allianz UK, with a diversified background spanning SME/digital, underwriting, the executive office, and business architecture.

Recently, Allianz UK has been proactive in revamping its commercial division leadership. Ly has been positioned as the Commercial Managing Director UK, starting April 3, 2025. He will oversee Allianz’s commercial insurance operations in the UK, covering digital, mid-market, and large-corporate sectors, along with engineering inspection, legal protection, and fleet segments. Ly will report directly to Colm Holmes, CEO of Allianz Holdings UK, and Dirk Vogler, Chief Regions Officer International at Allianz Commercial.
In February, Mitch Bennett was appointed as the new Head of Claims for Large-Corp and Specialty in the UK region. Bennett will spearhead claims services for large corporate and specialty clients, reporting to Ly and Thomas Sepp, Allianz Commercial’s Chief Claims Officer. Bennett joined Allianz Commercial in 2022, bringing his expertise as Head of Property, Entertainment, Natural Resources, and Construction Claims in the UK region.
