Discover Lara Martiner’s new role as Global Head of Alternative Risk Transfer at Allianz Commercial, enhancing innovative risk solutions.
Allianz Commercial has officially appointed Lara Martiner as the Global Head of Alternative Risk Transfer at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS), with her term commencing on April 1, 2025. She will be taking over from Grant Maxwell, who is set to depart from the German insurer by the end of June. Until then, Martiner will continue in her current capacity as CEO of AGCS subsidiary Allianz Risk Transfer AG.
The Alternative Risk Transfer division represents a critical growth avenue for Allianz Commercial. There is a burgeoning demand from clients eager to enhance their conventional risk management strategies with innovative, non-traditional solutions. In 2024, this division successfully underwrote over €2 billion in gross written premium, which included fronting premiums.
With an increasing interest in non-conventional risk transfer solutions, such as structured insurance, captive fronting, and tailor-made risk solutions like parametrics and sustainable options, this division has emerged as a pivotal growth sector for the company.
Martiner’s career with Allianz spans more than 14 years, beginning in 2011 when she joined as Legal Counsel, Head of Compliance, and location head in Zurich. Over the years, she has ascended through various progressively senior positions within AGCS and the Alternative Risk Transfer organization, becoming a member of the executive board of Allianz Risk Transfer AG in October 2021. Just a year ago, she took on the roles of Chief Executive and General Counsel.
