According to the latest data from TurkStat, the total number of vehicles registered for traffic in Turkey has reached an impressive 31 million 976 thousand as of the end of April. Despite this high number, the penetration of car insurance remains relatively low, with only 25 percent of these vehicles being insured.
Emrah Gökmen, the Assistant General Manager of Elementary Individual Insurances at Allianz Turkey, highlights the economic benefits of car insurance, particularly considering the rising costs of damage and maintenance. The ownership rate of car insurance varies significantly across Turkey. In Manisa, it’s only 11 percent, while in Istanbul, it reaches 42 percent. Other regions like Konya, Gaziantep, and Adana have rates of 14 percent, 15 percent, and 19 percent respectively.
