Sony has recently unveiled on the PS Blog that a State of Play event dedicated to Borderlands 4 will be held today. This demonstration will feature Gearbox’s creative director, Graeme Timmins, and senior project manager, Anthony Nicholson. In addition to the event, 2K and Gearbox have revealed a significant update regarding the game’s release schedule. Originally rumored to launch on September 23rd, Borderlands 4 will now be released ahead of schedule on September 12th. This announcement was made by Randy Pitchford, who shared a video update on his Twitter (now X) account.
Pitchford expressed that the development process is proceeding exceptionally well, aligning perfectly with their ‘best case scenario.’ As a result, the decision was made to release the game earlier than anticipated. While it’s not uncommon for release dates to be adjusted, they are typically postponed rather than advanced. However, the Gearbox team has efficiently streamlined their development process, allowing for this unexpected advancement.
This development has also sparked speculation regarding the release schedule for the highly anticipated GTA 6. Observers often consider the release dates of other 2K games to gauge potential timelines for GTA 6. With Borderlands 4’s release date pushed forward, some are now pondering if this signals an imminent announcement for GTA 6.
