Valve’s Upcoming Breakthrough: Deadlock
Valve Corporation, known for its iconic franchises such as Portal, Half-Life, Counter-Strike, and DotA, is set to break its long-standing tradition of sticking to these series. Deadlock, an innovative game under development for quite some time, is designed to merge the elements of hero shooters and MOBA games, and it’s expected to be available to a broader audience very soon.
Anticipation Builds for Deadlock’s Open Beta
After a hiatus from launching new games, Valve initiated work on a science fiction project named Neon Prime. Initially envisioned as a blend of MOBA and hero shooter genres, this project evolved into what is now known as Deadlock. In 2024, more details about the game emerged, and it has since been undergoing rigorous testing through a closed alpha version. Early test footage suggests that Deadlock draws inspiration from titles like DotA2, Team Fortress, Smite, and Marvel Rivals. Despite being in closed testing, the game has already set impressive records on Steam, hinting at its potential popularity.
A recent post on Reddit’s r/GamingLeaksAndRumours page hinted at an open beta launch in July for Deadlock. Although the post was later removed, it contained videos and images from the game’s on-premise versions. While Valve has yet to make an official announcement, if these rumors hold true, the eagerly awaited game could officially launch by the end of this year or early 2026.
