BYD, the leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, is broadening its presence in Turkey with an innovative addition to its lineup. The BYD SEAL U DM-i AWD, equipped with a new 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and an all-wheel-drive system, aims to revolutionize the plug-in hybrid segment with its premium features and cutting-edge technology.
Having pioneered the world’s first mass-produced plug-in hybrid car, BYD is now extending the SEAL U DM-i model family with an all-wheel drive variant. Sharing the design aesthetics of its predecessor, this new model promises an exhilarating driving experience, especially during long-distance travel, thanks to its turbocharged engine paired with dual electric motors.
As part of its strategic investment in Turkey, the BYD Seal U DM-i has been a best-selling SUV in the region. The 4×4 version introduces Sand and Mud driving modes, offering enhanced control across diverse terrains. The all-wheel-drive system further complements its versatility.
Boasting a system output of 238 kW (324 hp), this model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, delivering impressive performance metrics.
The inclusion of an all-wheel-drive system necessitated a reconfiguration of the model’s energy management. The new version allows up to 70 kilometers in full electric mode, with a combined hybrid range of 870 kilometers, merging electric and turbo engine capabilities. Despite the power boost, the battery technology and charging infrastructure remain consistent.
Equipped with the existing 18.3 kWh battery and BYD’s renowned Blade Battery, the model ensures high safety standards. The Blade Battery is both efficient and safe, offering quick charging from 30 to 80 percent in a mere 35 minutes. The electric range suffices for urban commutes, while the hybrid mode excels in long-distance travel, providing a flexible driving solution.
This model integrates a 96 kW (131 hp) 1.5-liter turbo engine, working in tandem with the electric motors to deliver robust traction and performance.
Mirroring the existing version, the AWD model is replete with technology and comfort-focused features: LED lighting, power tailgate, 19-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, adjustable and climate-controlled front seats, a premium sound system, a digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, and a swiveling touchscreen display, alongside dual wireless charging pads. A 360-degree camera enhances safety by providing comprehensive visibility.
The BYD Mobile App, compatible with Android and iOS, integrates seamlessly with all BYD models, including this AWD version. It enables remote management of various functions, such as monitoring charge status, controlling climate settings, and locating the vehicle. OTA technology ensures the vehicle remains up-to-date with the latest features.
BYD models, known for their safety, come equipped with extensive safety features like Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and more. These features, coupled with Euro NCAP certification, ensure maximum safety for occupants and pedestrians.
The BYD Seal U DM-i 4×4 will be available at BYD dealerships in Turkey from early May, with a launch price of 2,845,000 TL.
