Google Brings Snapseed 4.0 Update to Android With New Interface and Camera Features

Google has released the Snapseed 4.0 update for Android, introducing a redesigned interface and new camera-focused features. The update, first introduced on iOS, is now available to Android users.

With the new version, Snapseed moves from its previous tool-based structure to a more visual home screen. Users can now see previously edited photos in a grid layout. The Add Photo option at the bottom of the screen opens the system file picker directly.

One of the main additions in Snapseed 4.0 is Snapseed Camera. Accessible through the floating action button on the home screen, this feature brings camera controls such as ISO, shutter speed, and manual focus into the app.

The update also adds a film emulation system. Users can apply preset styles based on classic film stocks, including Kodak Portra 400, Kodak Gold 200, Fuji Superia 800, and Polaroid 600, in real time.

The editing interface has been reorganized into View, Tools, and Export tabs. Editing tools are also grouped under Enhance, Correct, Style, and All to simplify navigation. Users can switch between dark and light themes from the top-right corner.

Snapseed 4.0 now includes histogram support for exposure evaluation. The update also expands the app’s editing tools with a one-tap masking system, RAW development support, and double exposure with blending modes.

Additional effects such as Halation, Bloom, and Lens Blur are also included in the new version.

Google stated that Snapseed remains completely free to use. According to the company, the app offers more than 30 editing tools and filters without requiring a subscription, displaying ads, or adding watermarks.
