AMD is gearing up to expand its latest Radeon RX 9000 lineup with a fresh addition, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE, dubbed the ‘Great Radeon Edition’ (GRE). Positioned strategically between the RX 9070 and the soon-to-be-released RX 9060 XT, this new graphics card is anticipated to cater to users seeking excellent value for money in terms of price-performance ratio.
According to recently leaked technical data, the RX 9070 GRE will be powered by the Navi 48 GPU and feature 3,072 SP (Stream Processors). This configuration indicates that a quarter of the GPU cores are deactivated. Nonetheless, AMD aims to compensate for this through an increase in clock speed. The card is expected to have a boosted frequency of 2.79 GHz, delivering approximately 17.1 TFLOPS of processing power, closely approaching the RX 9070’s performance of 18 TFLOPS. There are even whispers of variants capable of reaching 3 GHz.
The memory configuration of the Radeon RX 9070 GRE is reported to include 12 GB of GDDR6 on a 192-bit memory bus. The memory frequency is set to 18 Gbps, a slight reduction from the 20 Gbps found in earlier models. This alteration results in a memory bandwidth of 432 GB/s, roughly 33% lower than that of the RX 9070 XT. AMD seems focused on bridging the performance gap between the RX 9060 XT and RX 9070 with this offering.
However, it’s still uncertain if the RX 9070 GRE will see a global release. Nevertheless, its debut is anticipated in the second quarter of 2025.
