The forthcoming Ryzen 9000G desktop APU lineup from AMD, powered by the cutting-edge Zen 5 architecture, is gradually coming into sharper focus. A recent sighting of an engineering sample, yet to be officially named, in FurMark testing provides intriguing insights. This processor prototype, identified by the code “100-000001868-30_Y”, demonstrates integrated graphics capabilities comparable to the Radeon 780M.
Performance Insights from the AMD Ryzen 9000G
As per the leak, the iGPU of the Ryzen 9000G APU delivers a score of 1,097 points in the FurMark 1440p benchmark. This score is nearly identical to the Radeon 780M, with only a marginal 1% difference. At a 4K resolution, the score decreases to 542, reflecting approximately 5% less than the Radeon 780M’s achievement of 566 points. However, this slight deficit might be attributed to the tested chip not being a top-tier variant. In comparison, the Radeon 890M scored 17% higher at 1080p.
A noteworthy aspect of the new APU is its integrated GPU’s boost frequency, which peaks at 3.1 GHz, surpassing the Radeon 890M’s maximum of 3.0 GHz by 100 MHz. In terms of power consumption, the iGPU uses 47W at 1440p and 50W at 4K, compared to the Radeon 890M’s 46W.
Target Market and Future Prospects
The AMD Ryzen 9000G series is tailored for the desktop AM5 platform. While the exact number of processor models remains undisclosed, this leak confirms the impending arrival of a Zen 5 + RDNA 3.5 combo. Codenamed Gorgon Point, these Ryzen 9000G APUs are anticipated to hit the market in the final quarter of 2025.
