Xiaomi has unveiled its forward-looking vision at a major company event, where CEO Lei Jun shared that the brand is ready to transcend its identity as merely a hardware manufacturer. Building toward a future anchored in innovation, Xiaomi aims to create a fully integrated technology ecosystem that blends intelligence, performance, and user experience.
At the core of this new strategy lies the company’s in-house creation — the XRING O1 processor. Designed with a second-generation 3nm process, the XRING O1 delivers flagship-level performance through a ten-core, four-cluster CPU architecture. This groundbreaking step marks Xiaomi as the first company in mainland China to produce a 3nm-class premium mobile chipset, ranking it among a select group of only four global innovators to achieve this technical milestone.
The Convergence of Chips, Systems, and AI
Beyond producing a single powerful chip, Xiaomi’s ambitions reach much further. Lei Jun outlined plans for a transformative phase expected to begin in 2026 — a stage he referred to as the ‘grand convergence’. This initiative will fuse proprietary chips, the Xiaomi operating system, and large-scale AI models into one seamlessly intelligent ecosystem, reflecting the company’s long-term goal of deep technological integration.
With research and development at the heart of its expansion, Xiaomi has already surpassed its earlier goal of investing 100 billion yuan in core technologies. To date, total spending has reached approximately 105 billion yuan, signaling strong commitment to innovation. Looking ahead, the company plans to inject an additional 200 billion yuan over the next five years, specifically targeting advancements in chip design, artificial intelligence, and operating system development.
