Why the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max Won’t Get the iOS 19 Update

A12 Bionic Chip No Longer Supported
Released in 2018, the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max models are powered by the A12 Bionic chip. While this processor was cutting-edge at its debut, it has since fallen short of supporting the advanced features that Apple plans to implement in iOS 19. This includes enhanced AI capabilities, immersive augmented reality experiences, and robust security enhancements.
Apple’s update policy ensures that only devices with compatible hardware receive new iOS versions. With iOS 19, the company is discontinuing support for the A12 Bionic processor, making these models ineligible for the update.
