Tesla has introduced a new performance upgrade for the 2026 Model Y, offering a paid software enhancement known as the Acceleration Boost. This upgrade was first observed by Tesla enthusiasts and quickly gained attention on social media platforms.
New Model Y Now Accelerates Faster for $2,000!
The Acceleration Boost is available for the latest Model Y Long Range AWD variant and can be purchased for $2,000 via Tesla’s mobile app. This update adds approximately 100 horsepower to the vehicle, reducing the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) acceleration time from 4.6 seconds to just 4.2 seconds.
This represents Tesla’s initial venture into paid software upgrades for the new Model Y. Although the current Long Range AWD model already boasts impressive hardware performance, this update offers an elevated driving experience.
Though the performance difference may appear minimal, Tesla’s strategy of offering software-based enhancements highlights its innovative approach. After concluding the production of the new Model Y Launch Series, only the Long Range AWD variant is currently sold in the United States.
Previously, the Model Y lineup included three versions: Rear Wheel Drive (RWD), Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD), and Performance. While there is anticipation for the reintroduction of the RWD and Performance models following the updated Juniper version, the Long Range AWD model remains the sole option available in the US, unlike in Turkey.
