Delay in the Production of Tesla’s Affordable Model Y
Tesla, the leading electric vehicle manufacturer, is facing a delay in the production launch of its eagerly awaited affordable version of the Model Y in the United States. Initially slated for the first half of the year, production has now been pushed back by several months, according to sources within the company. This setback marks a significant adjustment to the timeline for this new model, which is anticipated to rejuvenate Tesla’s slowing sales.
Reasons Behind the Production Delay
The global production of the cost-effective Model Y, known internally as E41, was originally planned to commence in the U.S. However, three different insiders have informed Reuters that this has been postponed by a couple of months from the publicly announced schedule. Although the precise reasons for the delay remain undisclosed, it is suggested that there have been revisions in production targets and alternative timeframes are under consideration, ranging from the third quarter of this year to early next year.
Tesla’s Ambitious Production Goals in the U.S.
According to sources, Tesla aims to manufacture 250,000 units of the more affordable Model Y in the U.S. by 2026. Previously, Reuters had reported on the new vehicle’s production plans in China and Europe. However, the delay in U.S. production and the ambitious production target had not been previously disclosed to the public.
