Tesla’s Foray into Autonomous Driving with Robotaxis
Tesla is poised to make a groundbreaking entry into what Wedbush terms the “golden age of autonomy” with the unveiling of its robotaxi service in Austin this upcoming Sunday. Analysts at Wedbush project that this pivotal development might potentially augment Tesla’s market valuation by $1 trillion.
The rollout will commence with approximately 20 Model Y vehicles navigating a confined geographical zone around Austin, as per Wedbush’s statement on Friday. Tesla envisions broadening this initiative to “around 25 cities in the US” within the forthcoming year.
The analysts have characterized this event as “the bedrock of autonomous growth for years ahead” and consider it one of the “most significant” milestones in Tesla’s history.
Wedbush remarked, “We are convinced that Tesla’s future in artificial intelligence (AI) alone could enhance its valuation by $1 trillion over the next few years.” The firm maintains its Outperform rating and a target share price of $500, highlighting Tesla’s unmatched global stature in AI and autonomous technologies.
Wedbush anticipates favorable regulatory winds under President Trump’s administration, predicting that federal oversight will soon streamline the approval process for fully autonomous driving technologies.
The analysts noted, “Trump is keen on ensuring the US maintains its lead over China in this AI arms race.” They further emphasized that autonomous technology “is crucial in determining who will dominate AI, with Tesla playing a pivotal role in the robotaxi sector.”
According to Wedbush, this launch signifies merely the beginning. “Rome wasn’t built in a day. Nor will Tesla’s strategic vision for autonomy and robotics.” Full-scale production of Tesla’s custom-designed robotaxi model, the Cybercab, is slated to commence next year.
Wedbush concluded, “In a bullish scenario, we foresee Tesla attaining a market capitalization of $2 trillion by the close of 2026.”
