Faced with international restrictions, Huawei has opted to advance its chip manufacturing capabilities domestically. Despite these efforts, the company faces significant hurdles. The Ascend 910C chip, anticipated to be a breakthrough, suffers from heat management issues, and the associated software ecosystem is lacking in robustness.

The Huawei CANN software platform is often compared unfavorably to Nvidia’s well-established CUDA ecosystem. This has led to a shift among major Chinese enterprises, with some distancing themselves from Huawei’s Ascend framework. Notably, industry giants like ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent have shown reluctance to place substantial orders with Huawei.

For Huawei to successfully compete with Nvidia within the Chinese tech market, it must address its technical shortcomings and foster a comprehensive software ecosystem. Without these developments, it remains unlikely that leading Chinese technology firms will abandon Nvidia in favor of homegrown alternatives.
