Minister Yumaklı’s Remarks on Agricultural Insurance
Speaking at the Turkey’s Century in Agriculture Summit, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı emphasized the vital role of TARSİM in addressing the challenges of climate change and urged farmers to secure agricultural insurance.
The “Turkey’s Century in Agriculture Summit”, organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and led by Albayrak Media, was held in Istanbul on 27 March. The event gathered Minister İbrahim Yumaklı and key representatives from the agricultural sector.
The summit was also attended by Dr. Osman Yıldız, Director General of Agricultural Reform and a member of the TARSİM Board of Directors, as well as Bekir Engürülü, a TARSİM Board Member and Director General of the Agricultural Insurance Pool, along with their delegations.
During a special session following the opening speeches, Minister Yumaklı delivered key messages on food supply security, rural development support, and the future roadmap for agriculture.
Yumaklı highlighted that TARSİM has become an internationally recognized model within the agricultural insurance system. He underlined the growing impact of climate change and described TARSİM as a crucial mechanism to safeguard producers against climate risks.
The Minister stated that services are currently provided across 11 insurance sectors, offering up to 70 percent state premium support along with various discount options. He emphasized that efforts to broaden the use of agricultural insurance will continue and encouraged producers to benefit from TARSİM coverage.
