Recognized for its commitment to innovation in the insurance sphere, Anadolu Insurance has secured the prestigious Gold Award in the Social Responsibility category at the 2025 Smart-i Awards. The awards ceremony, emphasizing breakthroughs in the insurance industry, celebrated the company’s impactful ‘Eyes of the Forest’ project initiated back in 2022.
Reflecting its dedication to sustainability and societal impact, Anadolu Insurance has consistently strived to bring enduring value through its initiatives. The Smart-i Awards 2025, under the auspices of the Turkish Insurance Association, acknowledged this through the Gold Smart-i Award won by the ‘Eyes of the Forest’ initiative.
The accolade, received by Corporate Communications and Sustainability executives İlker Köklük, Ayça Sezgin, and Burak Deligöz, highlights how Anadolu Insurance integrates technology to combat the climate crisis. In collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, an innovative early warning network is being crafted across Turkey. Leading-edge fire monitoring towers equipped with sophisticated video analytics and smoke detection systems are at the heart of this initiative, allowing for real-time risk assessment.
Launched with the installation of its inaugural unmanned tower in Adana Balcalı in 2022, the ‘Eyes of the Forest’ has grown to encompass 812,700 hectares, deploying 16 towers within its first three years. Notably, 241 fires have been detected and mitigated early on through these efforts, showcasing the project’s effectiveness.
The fire surveillance towers extend their utility beyond just monitoring for fires; they also help curtail security threats like illegal logging and unauthorized constructions while advancing the protection of natural habitats. Furthermore, they bolster emergency communications, enhancing the overall response efficacy.
Commenting on the award, Berna Semiz Ergüntan, Corporate Communications and Sustainability Coordinator, stressed the importance of preserving forestry and natural ecosystems as foundational elements of sustainable development. She emphasized, “Our ‘Eyes of the Forest’ initiative epitomizes the fusion of technology with social responsibility to present tangible responses to climate change concerns. This accolade underlines the success and vision we endeavor to expand upon. Anadolu Insurance is committed to pioneering projects serving environmental and societal betterment.”
