In recognition of World Environment Day on June 5, Türk Telekom has reaffirmed its dedication to environmental sustainability with a robust set of initiatives aimed at achieving net zero emissions by 2050. This commitment aligns with global efforts to mitigate climate change by limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
The company was honored with a spot on the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) global A List this year, a testament to its exemplary environmental performance and effective carbon management strategies. Türk Telekom has set ambitious goals to cut Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 45 percent by 2030, using 2020 as a baseline, with an eye toward achieving net zero by 2050. The concept of net zero involves balancing the greenhouse gases emitted with those absorbed or offset, effectively bringing the carbon footprint to zero.
Furthering its commitment to renewable energy, Türk Telekom plans to construct a solar power plant with a substantial 405.8 MW capacity. The initial phase, a 96 MW facility in Sivas, is already underway with production set to commence by year-end. Once fully operational, this plant will rank among the largest unlicensed solar facilities in Turkey.
Upon completing all phases, the solar power capacity is expected to reach 405.8 MW, which will provide approximately 65 percent of Türk Telekom’s total energy needs in 2024.
Türk Telekom is at the forefront of offering sustainable solutions across various sectors including transportation, healthcare, energy, and security. By implementing smart urbanization applications, smart lighting projects, and smart traffic management solutions in 15 cities, the company is advancing its mission of promoting renewable resources and innovative technologies.

Our Solar Power Plants (SPP), Electric Vehicle Charging Network services, and cutting-edge solutions in smart urbanization, AI-driven energy consumption, and irrigation, all contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We are also installing new green network technologies to minimize carbon emissions at our mobile base stations while upgrading our data centers with eco-friendly systems.”
