The Dacia Spring, renowned for being one of the most affordable electric vehicles available, is poised for a significant upgrade in the coming years. The Renault Group has announced that a new generation of Dacia’s beloved A-segment model will debut between 2026 and 2027, utilizing the same platform as the Renault Twingo.
Anticipated to be built on the AmpR Small platform, also found in the Renault 5 E-Tech and the new Twingo, the upcoming Dacia electric model promises compact dimensions. With an expected length of around 3.70 meters, it will likely resemble the Twingo in size. The design is projected to be more angular and robust, aligning with Dacia’s contemporary design ethos.
The digital render showcases Dacia’s signature design features, including the sleek front grille, Y-shaped LED headlights, plastic side guards, and a pronounced shoulder line, reminiscent of the Duster and Bigster models.
As reported by the French magazine L’Argus, a critical shift will occur in the production location. Unlike the current Dacia Spring, which is manufactured in China, the forthcoming model is slated for production in a European facility. This strategic move aims to lower logistics costs, ensure rapid response to the European market, and enhance adherence to European production standards.
The new Dacia Spring is expected to share much of its mechanical underpinnings with the Twingo, albeit with some modifications to retain Dacia’s core philosophy of affordability. The goal is to launch at a price below 18,000 euros, making it approximately 2,000 euros cheaper than the Twingo.
To achieve this cost-effectiveness, the vehicle might feature reduced ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and employ a slightly lower capacity battery compared to the Twingo.
