Tesla Announces Major Recall for Model 3 and Model Y Due to Battery Connector Issue

Tesla recalls thousands of Model 3 and Model Y vehicles over a battery connector issue, addressing potential safety and performance risks.

Tesla recalls thousands of Model 3 and Model Y vehicles

Tesla has announced an urgent recall affecting roughly 13,000 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles produced earlier this year. According to reports reviewed by the company since August, certain battery connection components have shown signs of malfunction, potentially leading to unexpected power loss while driving.

After a detailed internal investigation, Tesla determined that roughly 8,000 Model Y and 5,000 Model 3 units manufactured in the United States between March and August 2025 may have been equipped with defective battery pack connectors. These parts were traced back to solenoid components supplied by Mexico-based manufacturer InTiCa.

Details of the Recall

The recall extends to Model 3 cars built from March 8 to August 12, 2025, and Model Y vehicles produced between March 15 and August 15, 2025. Tesla clarified that the affected battery connectors could cause sudden power interruptions if the contactor disengages while the vehicle is in motion, thus posing a potential road safety concern.

Free Replacement and Safety Measures

Tesla will notify all impacted vehicle owners to schedule service appointments for free component replacement. The faulty contactors will be swapped for newly certified parts that meet the updated reliability standards. This proactive step reflects Tesla’s ongoing commitment to ensuring driver safety and vehicle performance.

Owners are advised to remain attentive to official Tesla communications and arrange servicing as soon as possible to avoid potential disruptions during driving.
