Severe Storms in the US: Death Toll Rises to 16

The death toll from powerful storms sweeping across the central and eastern United States has tragically increased to at least 16. The National Weather Service has issued warnings for severe flooding throughout the weekend.

The ongoing storms have wreaked havoc from Arkansas to Ohio, leaving a trail of destruction that includes damaged buildings, flooded roads, and numerous tornadoes. Tennessee has borne the brunt of nature’s fury, with state officials confirming that 10 lives have been lost in its western region. Governor Andy Beshear of Kentucky reported two fatalities, one of whom was a child swept away by floodwaters. Additionally, local media reports indicate storm-related deaths of two individuals in Missouri and one in Indiana. The Arkansas State Emergency Management Agency also reported the tragic death of a 5-year-old boy in his home, attributed to the severe weather conditions.

The National Weather Service has forecasted extensive flooding on Sunday, particularly affecting the central and eastern regions.

According to data from PowerOutage.us, a website that tracks power outages, over 100,000 residents in Arkansas and Tennessee were left without electricity as of Sunday morning. The storms have continued to claim lives, with reports indicating seven deaths as of Friday, April 4.
