Severe Floods Devastate Central Vietnam, Leaving Dozens Dead and Thousands Affected

Officials in Vietnam have confirmed that ongoing floods in the central provinces have caused extensive destruction and tragic loss of life. According to the latest reports, at least 28 people have died, while six others remain missing after being swept away by powerful floodwaters.

The disaster has submerged nearly 22,100 homes and inflicted severe damage on numerous residential and public buildings. Authorities revealed that approximately 245,000 households are currently without electricity, deepening the crisis for thousands of residents battling harsh conditions.

Impact on Infrastructure and Recovery Efforts

Several roads remain impassable due to flooding and landslides, hampering rescue operations and the delivery of essential supplies. Some train services, which had been temporarily suspended, have now resumed partial operations, offering limited connectivity across affected areas.

Emergency teams continue to work around the clock to restore power and reopen vital transportation routes. Local governments have urged residents in vulnerable zones to stay alert and prioritize safety as rainfall is expected to persist in the coming days.

The situation underscores Vietnam’s vulnerability to natural disasters, particularly in its central regions, which often experience intense seasonal monsoons. Authorities are coordinating relief efforts, emphasizing the need for long-term strategies to mitigate flood risks and strengthen the country’s disaster resilience.
