Processor Challenges with the Windows 11 Start Menu
The introduction of Windows 11 brought with it an intriguing performance issue related to the Start Menu, sparking discussions among users. A software developer, Alex Fazio, highlighted on the social platform X how this menu can significantly increase the processor‘s workload each time it is accessed. Essentially, Windows 11’s Start Menu is causing undue strain on the processor.
Fazio attributes this to Microsoft’s choice of inefficient technology. The Start Menu in Windows 11 is built using React Native, a framework that, while facilitating and accelerating development, may also introduce performance challenges.

React Native is known for transforming interfaces crafted with JavaScript and similar web technologies into native applications compatible with platforms like Windows. This allows the created application to function seamlessly on the system, akin to an EXE file. However, despite the advantages in development speed, the multi-layered architecture can result in performance drawbacks.
Fazio pointed out that every time the Start Menu is accessed, the processor load can spike by 30 to 70 percent. This observation has been corroborated by other users on X. The issue seems to intensify particularly when interacting with the recommended applications panel, with nearly every second menu access experiencing this surge.
As of now, Microsoft has not issued an official response regarding this matter.
