Nvidia Sounds the Alarm Amid Rising Trade Tensions

Nvidia, once soaring as the world’s most valuable company, is currently grappling with significant challenges due to the stringent trade embargoes implemented by the Trump administration against China. The company’s stocks, which had reached unprecedented heights, have since experienced a 35% decline.

Nvidia Sounds the Alarm Amid Rising Trade Tensions

Nvidia holds a dominant position within the chip industry, largely due to its robust sales in the Chinese market. However, recent policies have necessitated that Nvidia obtain US approval to sell its H20 or GeForce RTX 5090D graphics cards in China. Previously, Nvidia’s sales in China approached nearly $30 billion annually.

The unavailability of older accelerators such as the Nvidia A100 and H100 in the Chinese market has inadvertently bolstered Huawei’s position. Huawei’s Ascend 910C, which offers performance on par with Nvidia’s H100, alongside the upcoming Ascend 920 chips, poised to compete with Nvidia’s H20, have emerged as viable alternatives for Chinese enterprises.

These developments are contributing to a decline in Nvidia’s share value, with the company’s market capitalization dipping below $2.3 trillion. This ongoing uncertainty continues to unsettle investors, and analysts have yet to reach a consensus on the potential trajectory of these unfolding events.
