Enhanced Security with Automatic Reboot

Google is introducing a significant security feature with the latest update of its Play Services, version 25.14. This update, inspired by Apple’s initiative in iOS 18.1, will automatically restart Android devices after they remain locked and inactive for a period of 72 hours, equivalent to three days.

Upon this automatic reboot, the Android device will enter what is known as the Before First Unlock (BFU) state. In this state, the device’s security is greatly enhanced as critical information such as biometric data, passwords, and user accounts are not yet accessible or active. This ensures an increased level of protection, making unauthorized access to the device’s data significantly more challenging compared to the After First Unlock (AFU) state.

Enhanced Security with Automatic Reboot

This feature will be located in the Privacy & Security section of the device settings and will be enabled by default, providing users with an added layer of security without requiring manual activation.
