Mete Gazoz, the celebrated Olympic, world, and European champion archer, shared his thoughts on his recent season, expressing satisfaction with his performance. The 25-year-old athlete remarked:
“The season kicked off with the Indoor European Championship in Samsun, which went exceptionally well. Following that, I secured second place at the World Cup in the U.S. These results have been encouraging. We also achieved third place in the mixed team category at the World Cup in Shanghai. Additionally, I came second in the Conquest Cup, serving as excellent preparation for the upcoming World Championship. As we head into the World Cup in Antalya, I feel prepared and optimistic. The season has begun on a strong note and continues to progress positively. I’m committed to enhancing my mental and physical strength, ensuring I’m ready for the 2028 Olympic Games.”
Mete Gazoz also spoke about his passion for e-sports, a significant part of his life beyond archery. He explained, “In the midst of high-level performance and a rigorous schedule, it’s vital for me to mentally unwind and take a break from archery. Gaming provides this escape. I primarily enjoy playing League of Legends and Valorant with my friends. E-sports offers not only relaxation and enjoyment but also a highly competitive environment. I closely follow professional matches and teams, and I’m thrilled to be part of the e-sports community.”
The workshop at the Istinye Archery Club, run by Mete Gazoz’s father, Metin Gazoz, holds a special place in the athlete’s heart. Mete shared that he spent much of his childhood in this workshop, where bows and arrows are crafted. “This workshop is like a second home to me,” he said. “I’ve trained extensively here with my father, sharing countless memories with both my parents. Spiritually, it’s a sanctuary where I feel at ease. It’s one of my safe havens, and I cherish my time spent here.”
Mete Gazoz also expressed his delight in partnering with Red Bull, saying, “I view Red Bull as more than just a brand; it’s a family to me. Although I’m a recent addition to the team, it feels as though we’ve been together for years.”
