Jason Burns Brings Expertise to Sompo

Jason Burns, a seasoned professional with a robust background in the reinsurance sector, has joined Sompo, a prominent property and casualty (P&C) insurer and reinsurer, as Senior Vice President (SVP) of Ceded Reinsurance, as of last month. Burns’ extensive career spans over two decades, marked by significant contributions and leadership roles in the industry.

Career Journey

Burns commenced his career at The Hartford in 2002, where he excelled as a Financial Analyst. He further honed his underwriting skills during his tenure at OdysseyRe, before making a substantial impact at global insurance titan Chubb. During his 14-year stint at Chubb Tempest Re, he rose to the position of SVP, demonstrating his prowess in reinsurance operations.

In 2021, Burns transitioned to Blue Atlantic Reinsurance as President. His leadership was instrumental in steering the company towards strategic growth, until he departed earlier this year.

New Role at Sompo

At Sompo, Burns is expected to play an influential role in managing the company’s outbound reinsurance placements. His expertise is anticipated to strengthen Sompo’s market position and optimize its reinsurance strategies.
