Intel’s Renewed Focus on Desktop GPUs

Despite recent rumors suggesting Intel’s withdrawal from the desktop graphics card arena, new shipment documentation reveals that the company is actively developing next-generation GPUs. These upcoming graphics cards are based on the Battlemage architecture, indicating that Intel remains committed to this competitive market.

Intel's Renewed Focus on Desktop GPUs

Intel’s initial foray with the Arc B580 and B570 models last year saw limited success, largely due to the absence of next-gen competition. As 2025 progressed, the lack of updates led to speculation that Intel might be exiting the sector. However, recent findings suggest otherwise. The documents highlight a key model, the Battlemage variant codenamed “BMG-G31”. Featuring Xe2 cores ranging from 24-32, a 256-bit memory bus, and 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, this GPU promises to outperform its predecessors. Although there were rumors of its cancellation, its classification as “for R&D purposes” indicates potential development for AI or professional workloads.

Intel's Renewed Focus on Desktop GPUs

Additionally, attention is drawn to another model, codenamed “BMG-C32”. Although its code suggests links to both Battlemage and Celestial architectures, it is speculated to be a reworked version of the BMG-G31. This hints at Intel’s exploration of multiple variants within the Battlemage lineup.

While the future distribution of these models to consumers remains uncertain, it’s evident that Intel is not retreating from the desktop GPU market. New insights suggest we might witness the emergence of several innovative models in the near future.
