Greenland’s Firm Response to US Annexation Statements

Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen has issued a strong rebuttal to the recent assertions made by US President Donald Trump concerning the potential annexation of Greenland. Nielsen stated unequivocally, “President Trump says the US will take Greenland. Let me put it bluntly: The US will not succeed. We do not belong to anyone. We determine our own future,” he affirmed.

These remarks came on the heels of President Trump’s bold claim, made just yesterday, that he had engaged in “absolutely real talks” about acquiring Greenland, proclaiming, “We will take Greenland. Yes, one hundred percent”.

Further complicating matters, last Friday, US Vice President James David Vance visited a US military base situated in northern Greenland. During his visit, he criticized Denmark for what he described as insufficient efforts in safeguarding the island, suggesting that the United States could offer better protection to this strategically important location.
