A violent explosion occurred at 08:10 local time in the Putra Heights area of Selangor state in Malaysia. The explosion originated from a natural gas pipeline and resulted in a massive fire that lasted for several hours, affecting residential areas nearby.
The blaze, which ensued post-explosion, quickly spread to adjacent houses and vehicles. Emergency services, including fire brigade teams, arrived swiftly at the scene and began evacuating residents for their safety. Initial reports indicate that 112 individuals sustained injuries and 49 homes were damaged due to the incident.
In response to the disaster, Selangor state authorities designated the Putra Heights Mosque as an emergency center to support affected residents.

According to a statement from the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, the gas supply to the affected pipeline was promptly shut off, although the fire continued in a controlled manner for some time due to residual gas.
The explosion was traced back to a natural gas pipeline managed by the Malaysian national oil company, Petronas. An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the explosion, while damage assessment efforts are ongoing in the impacted region.
