With this update, AirPods will intelligently pause audio playback when the user falls asleep, potentially utilizing sleep data from the Apple Watch, as AirPods themselves lack sleep detection capabilities.

Moreover, reports suggest that with iOS 26, users might be able to activate the iPhone’s camera by simply tapping the tip of their AirPods. While a timer feature would enhance this functionality, tapping the ear to take photos could result in some interesting images.

The update is also expected to introduce a new microphone mode for AirPods, akin to the Audio Mix feature on the iPhone. This will allow users to choose from various audio recording options, such as studio and cinematic settings.
