Activating Night Light

Quick Settings Access:

  • Open Quick Settings by clicking the button at the bottom right of your screen or by pressing Win + A.
  • Locate and click the Night Light button among the icons to toggle it on or off.

For a more personalized setup, you can enable Night Light via the Settings menu:

  • Search for Settings using the Windows Search bar and select the first result.
  • Navigate to System and then Display.
  • Toggle the Night light switch to activate it.

Customizing Night Light

You can tailor the color temperature to your preference:

  • Click the arrow beside the Night Light tab.
  • Adjust the color warmth using the slider. Moving left reduces the warm effect, while right enhances it.

Scheduling Night Light

You can schedule Night Light to turn on and off automatically:

  • Expand the Night Light tab and enable Schedule night light to activate it from sunset to sunrise, using your location settings.
  • For precise control, manually set specific start and end times.

Alternatives and Troubleshooting

If the default Night Light feature does not meet your needs or is unavailable, consider third-party apps like f.lux or Redshift. These apps offer extensive customization and are compatible with multiple operating systems.

Troubleshooting Night Light Issues:

Driver Settings:

  • Open the NVIDIA Control Panel and navigate to ‘Adjust desktop color settings.’
  • Ensure that the ‘Override reference mode’ option is unchecked before applying changes.

Registry Errors:

  • Right-click the Start button, select Run, and type regedit.
  • Navigate to ComputerHKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionCloudStoreStoreDefaultAccountCloud.
  • Delete the folders: default$windows.data.bluelightreduction.bluelightreductionstate and default$windows.data.bluelightreduction.settings.
  • Restart your computer.
