Botes appointed Regional Director of Gallagher Re’s South Africa team, leading strategic growth and innovation in the region’s reinsurance market.
Gallagher Re, a prominent reinsurance broker, is pleased to announce the appointment of Riaan Botes as the new Regional Director for South Africa. With an impressive career spanning 25 years in the reinsurance sector, Botes brings a wealth of experience and strategic leadership to this pivotal role.
Before joining Gallagher Re, Botes was at Santam Re, where he excelled as the Head of Underwriting. His prior roles at Santam include Head of Reinsurance Buying and Head of Santam Re Actuarial. Botes has also served as the Head of Analytics at Aon Re for three years and was the CEO of Xtreme Loss Solutions Software.
His industry journey also includes significant contributions at Guy Carpenter as a Broker & Analytics specialist, and at Hannover Re, where he was part of the Statistical Services & Treaty Underwriting team.
A Gallagher Re spokesperson commented on the appointment, noting that Botes’ extensive knowledge of the South African market is expected to be instrumental in enhancing their client offerings and solidifying their position as a leading reinsurance broker in the region.
