ASUS has introduced the ROG XREAL R1 AR, a revolutionary pair of augmented reality glasses built for gaming enthusiasts. These sleek glasses merge cutting-edge display technology with immersive audio, providing a new dimension to digital gameplay. The standout feature is the virtual 171-inch screen paired with a blazing 240Hz refresh rate, thanks to the Micro-OLED display technology.
The device offers Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) for crystal-clear visuals and a 57-degree broad field of view that simulates an enormous monitor experience at about four meters away. ASUS claims that the glasses cover nearly 95% of the user’s focused viewing zone, ensuring impressive clarity and depth.
Aside from visuals, ASUS has teamed up with Bose to deliver a customized 3D sound system. This sophisticated setup creates an enveloping soundstage, letting players dive deeper into their virtual worlds. Another standout aspect is the electrochromic lens technology, designed to automatically adjust lens transparency based on lighting conditions. When users shift their gaze away from the virtual display, the lenses darken slightly, minimizing distractions, then become transparent again when focusing back on the display. Manual transparency control is also supported for a more personalized viewing experience.
The ROG XREAL R1 AR comes equipped with a dedicated ROG Control Dock offering multiple connectivity options including DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0. This allows seamless switching between PCs, gaming consoles, and even portable systems like the ROG Ally handheld console via USB Type-C. This integration ensures a plug-and-play experience regardless of the platform.
Although ASUS has not yet revealed an official price for the headset, the company confirmed that the ROG XREAL R1 AR will make its market debut in the first half of 2026. With its combination of ultrafast display performance, immersive sound, and advanced AR lens technology, this device promises to redefine how gamers perceive and interact with their virtual environments.
