AMD Confirms New Desktop Processors

In a recent driver update, AMD has officially acknowledged the existence of several unreleased desktop processors. Among them are the Ryzen 5 9600X3D, Ryzen 5 9600, and the Ryzen 9000 PRO series. These processors are slated for release in the latter half of the year, initially available through pre-built systems, as indicated by the update.

Introducing the Ryzen 5 9600X3D

The upcoming Ryzen 5 9600X3D is positioned as the most accessible model featuring 3D V-Cache technology. This processor boasts 6 cores and 12 threads, and is equipped with a 2nd generation V-Cache. It will offer a substantial 96 MB L3 cache utilizing a single CCD structure, promising significant improvements, particularly in gaming performance. Expectations are that it will share similar power consumption (TDP) and clock speeds with the Ryzen 5 9600X.

Ryzen 5 9600 and PRO Series Processors

The Ryzen 5 9600, already deployed by system builders, re-emerges in the driver listings. This processor features 6 cores, 12 threads, reaches clock speeds of up to 5.2 GHz, and includes a 32 MB L3 cache. It comes with a 65W TDP. Previously, it was primarily available through OEM and system integrator channels rather than retail, but this might soon change.

Additionally, there’s notable anticipation for AMD’s Ryzen 9000 PRO series, tailored for the enterprise market. The driver update identifies four new models: Ryzen 9 PRO 9945, Ryzen 7 PRO 9745, Ryzen 5 PRO 9645, and Ryzen 5 PRO 9400. It remains uncertain whether these processors are based on the “Granite Ridge” architecture or another design. The absence of the “G” suffix suggests these models lack integrated graphics units.

Rumors indicate that the Ryzen 5 9600X3D might debut for consumer markets between late Q3 and early Q4. Furthermore, there’s talk of an impending release of a Ryzen 7 9700F model.
