Xiaomi’s Processor Ambitions Unveiled

Xiaomi’s venture into chipset development began in 2017 with the Pengpai S1, utilizing a 28nm process. Over the years, the company has expanded its expertise by developing specialized chips for imaging (C series), fast charging (P series), power management (G series), signaling (T series), and display control (D series). Now, Xiaomi is on the verge of launching a comprehensive chipset solution.

Recent reports suggest that Xiaomi’s upcoming platform will feature an octa-core architecture. This includes a high-performance Cortex X925 core clocked at 3.2GHz, three Cortex A725 cores at 2.6GHz, and four efficiency-focused Cortex A520 cores at 2.0GHz, all fabricated on a cutting-edge 3nm process. The primary core configuration aligns with that of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400, yet the overall architecture may slightly trail behind flagship standards.

On the graphics front, the chipset will integrate the Imagination IMG DXT72 GPU, operating at a frequency of 1.3GHz. This GPU promises performance on par with or superior to the Adreno 740 found in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

While these details provide a glimpse into Xiaomi’s new chipset, the development marks a pivotal moment for the company. In light of Huawei’s challenges, particularly post-U.S. sanctions, Xiaomi’s progress towards self-sufficiency in chip manufacturing signifies a major milestone.
