Valorant: A New Era with Unreal Engine 5

Transition to Unreal Engine 5

Launched in 2020, Valorant was initially crafted using the Unreal Engine 4. This engine, a staple for Riot Games for nearly a decade, is now set to be replaced. The studio has officially confirmed the transition to Unreal Engine 5 with the rollout of update 11.02 at the end of July. While the game’s core aesthetics and feel are expected to remain largely intact, players can look forward to enhanced performance and more streamlined patch updates post-transition.

Introducing the Replay System

Furthermore, Riot has revealed plans to incorporate a “Replay” system with the 11.06 update, which is projected to be available by the end of the year. Initially launching for the PC platform, this feature will empower players to revisit and scrutinize their matches played in the ‘Competitive’ mode. Such analysis will aid in personal skill enhancement and offer clearer detection of potential cheaters. The Replay system is also on the horizon for Xbox Series and PlayStation users in the months to follow. Considerations are being made to extend this feature to other game modes beyond ‘Competitive’.
