Samsung has stirred buzz with its recent teaser for the upcoming foldable phones, prominently featuring the term ‘Ultra’. However, despite the anticipation, a well-regarded source has swiftly debunked the speculation of a brand-new high-end model. As the Galaxy Unpacked event draws near, it seems Samsung’s emphasis on ‘Ultra’ is largely a marketing ploy rather than an indicator of a new flagship device. The company is expected to introduce three foldable devices this summer.
Marketing Strategy to Build Anticipation
Samsung’s press release, issued yesterday, highlighted “an Ultra experience that’s not just about upgraded features,” sparking speculations about the potential launch of a ‘Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra’. Yet, Max Jambor, a noted insider with a reputation for accuracy, has confirmed that no such model is in the works. Instead, the Fold 7 is designed to deliver the Ultra experience. Jambor hinted that Samsung’s use of the term is a deliberate strategy to generate excitement among consumers.
The latest TKDN certifications have corroborated that the foldable phones set to be showcased at this year’s Galaxy Unpacked event are the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the more budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. The Fold 7 is anticipated to be 3.9 mm thin when opened and 8.9 mm thin when closed, equipped with a 200 MP main camera, a 8.2-inch internal display, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Meanwhile, the Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE models are likely to feature Exynos processors and boast a larger cover screen. All three models are expected to launch with One UI 8 based on Android 16.
Although the exact date for the Galaxy Unpacked event hasn’t been officially announced, leaks suggest it will take place in New York in early July.
