In a move consistent with prior expectations, OPEC+ has confirmed a modest increase in oil production amounting to 137,000 barrels per day starting in December. The decision follows a meeting among eight key producers—Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, the UAE, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman—who gathered to assess global market dynamics and production strategies.
With signs of a steady global economy and healthy market fundamentals reflected in persistently low oil inventories, the group reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining market stability. The participating nations agreed to enhance their previous voluntary reduction agreement of 1.65 million barrels per day, initially introduced in April 2023, by adding the new production increment beginning next month.
According to the official statement, the collective strategy aims to support a sustainable supply-demand balance without disrupting market confidence. Following December, the eight OPEC+ members plan to suspend further production increases during January, February, and March 2026 due to traditional seasonal factors that influence oil consumption patterns.
