Nvidia’s Latest Driver 576.02: Performance Gains and Gaming Challenges

Nvidia Unveils Driver 576.02 The much-anticipated Nvidia driver 576.02 has been released, bringing notable enhancements in performance, particularly evident in the 3DMark’s Steel Nomad benchmark. Reports from users indicate a substantial boost, with certain GPUs such as the RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti, and 5070 experiencing a 6% to 8% performance increase. Despite these benefits, the update has not been without its issues. Persistent Game Crashes While the latest driver offers improvements in benchmarks, gamers have encountered ongoing crashes in several top-tier AAA titles. Notable games like Black Myth Wukong, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Monster Hunter Wilds have been affected. Despite Nvidia‘s attempts to address these issues in their patch notes since February, players continue to face disruptions. Developer Advice: Revert to Driver 566.36 Given the persistent issues, some game developers are advising users, especially those with RTX 40 or 30 series graphics cards, to revert to the more stable driver version 566.36, initially released in December. This version reportedly offers a more reliable gaming experience, free from the current crashing issues. Graphics Card Competition In addition to driver concerns, Nvidia’s new graphics cards are under scrutiny for offering minimal performance improvements over the existing RTX 40-series. The RTX 5070, in particular, struggles to compete against AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT. The 4070 Super has also faced criticism for delivering performance that is comparable, if not inferior, to its predecessors.
