Intel’s Upcoming Arrow Lake Refresh: What to Expect

Intel is gearing up for a new advancement in its Arrow Lake series, tailored for both desktop and mobile systems. Contrary to earlier beliefs that the Arrow Lake Refresh (ARL-R) had been cancelled, recent developments indicate its revival, focusing on K-series processors within the Core Ultra 200 family.

Confirmation of Arrow Lake Refresh Through Leaks

Recent leaks have re-confirmed Intel’s Arrow Lake Refresh update, once speculated to be cancelled. This time, the revelation comes from an official motherboard document. Details from the W880 chipset reveal plans for a modest update to the Core Ultra 200 series. The ‘S’ series notation further suggests Intel’s intent to continue utilizing the LGA-1851 socket for another generation.

Interestingly, the W880 schematic does not indicate any notable interface changes at either the socket or platform levels, implying the absence of significant technical alterations. Therefore, the refresh is anticipated to focus on modest enhancements in clock speeds and subtle improvements in the NPU. Current reports suggest the refresh will exclusively cater to high-performance, unlocked models like the K and KF series, which are designed for overclocking and premium desktop systems.

The Core Ultra 300 family will not be part of this update, hinting that the ARL-R series could be the final desktop processors planned for the LGA-1851 socket. Although Intel has yet to announce an official release schedule, the Arrow Lake Refresh processors are likely to debut in the same year as the Nova Lake series, anticipated for late 2025.
