The much-anticipated game, Dune: Awakening, is making waves with its impressive number of concurrent players. As the release of the standard version approaches, excitement continues to build. Initially scheduled for a May 20, 2025 release, the game was postponed to June 10, 2025, following an announcement in April. However, players who have purchased the Deluxe or Ultimate editions can already enjoy the game through Advance Access.
Even with a staggered release, Dune: Awakening has captivated the gaming community, recording significant concurrent players on Steam. The early access phase, which began yesterday, saw the game launch with 79,410 players, quickly reaching a peak of 93,634 within less than 24 hours. At present, there are 3,055 user reviews on the store page, with 81% offering positive feedback.
Despite its achievements, some players have raised concerns about the server capacity. Players were often placed in Sietch, where the population significantly exceeded the intended limit. While the playable capacity was set at 60, the Sietch population sometimes surged to around 200. This led to extended wait times, ranging from forty to eighty minutes, as players had to wait for others to exit the game. Similar issues were reported when returning to Hagga Basin from social hubs.
Additional feedback highlighted crowded servers, challenges in locating opponents, optimization issues, and a price point considered higher than expected.
