Arch Insurance International names James Barrett as the new Head of Cyber & Healthcare, strengthening their leadership in the industry.
Arch Insurance International has announced the appointment of James Barrett as the new Head of Cyber & Healthcare, effective immediately. Barrett, who stepped into the role of Interim Head of Cyber in October 2024, will now officially lead underwriting activities for both the Cyber and Healthcare sectors. Since joining the company in 2018, he has been an integral part of the team, holding the position of Head of Healthcare.
In his expanded role, Barrett will be at the forefront of steering the strategic objectives for these crucial business lines, while also seeking innovative opportunities to enhance the firm’s market influence. Based in London, he will report directly to Mike Lay, the Chief Underwriting Officer for Long Tail Lines. Lay commented on the appointment, stating, “James is a highly experienced underwriter with proven leadership credentials. His exceptional performance as Interim Head of Cyber made him a natural choice to lead both the Cyber and Healthcare teams. These are core business lines, and James will be pivotal in enhancing our relevance through the delivery of creative, responsive, and effective underwriting solutions.”
Prior to this, Barrett was a Senior Underwriter at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, amassing over 18 years of underwriting expertise, which he now brings to his expanded role at Arch Insurance International.
