According to a recent analysis by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), Apple’s latest budget-friendly model, the iPhone 16e, has captured a notable 7% of iPhone sales across the United States. This marks a significant rise when compared to the iPhone SE, which held a 5% share during the same period last year.
The introduction of the iPhone 16 series has been met with enthusiasm, as evidenced by its composition of 74% of total iPhone sales in the US for the first quarter of 2025. This indicates a clear preference over the iPhone 15 series, which had a 68% share in the previous year.
Interestingly, the base iPhone 16 model has seen a boost in popularity. While the basic iPhone 15 accounted for 15% of sales last year, this figure has risen to 20% for the iPhone 16. Despite criticisms regarding the 60 Hz refresh rate in the iPhone 16 and 16e models, consumer demand appears unaffected.
The share of total sales for the iPhone 16 Pro series has decreased to 38%, down from 45% for the iPhone 15 Pro series the previous year. This trend suggests a shift among US consumers from premium models to more cost-effective options, reflecting changing priorities in smartphone investments.
