Akdamar Island, a renowned symbol of Van and a significant destination for faith tourism, celebrated the enchanting Almond Blossom Festival on April 19-20. This year’s festival saw a remarkable increase in attendance, drawing twice as many visitors as the previous year.
The festival offered boat tours to the picturesque island, providing unforgettable experiences amidst the stunning almond blossoms, which are a harbinger of spring. Visitors were treated to a variety of cultural and artistic activities, including concerts, poetry readings, folk dance performances, and engaging workshops for children.
One of the festival’s highlights was the photo safari, which attracted numerous nature enthusiasts eager to capture the island’s breathtaking landscapes. Abdurrahman Şahin, the Van Culture and Tourism Provincial Director, commented on the festival’s success: “The turnout exceeded our expectations. Over the course of two days, nearly 30,000 local and international tourists visited Akdamar Island. Our guests were not only able to enjoy the island’s beauty but also explore other significant landmarks in Van.”
