Ageas Re, the reinsurance arm of the globally renowned insurance conglomerate Ageas, is pleased to announce the appointment of Shahrokh Shahpoori Monfared as the Lead Underwriter for Engineering, effective May 1st, 2025. This strategic hire underscores Ageas Re’s commitment to strengthening its engineering reinsurance capabilities.
Monfared brings a wealth of expertise in underwriting diverse engineering risks globally, with an emphasis on markets in Europe, US Construction, Middle East, South, and East Asia. His extensive experience will be instrumental in driving Ageas Re’s engineering portfolio forward.
Prior to joining Ageas Re, Monfared honed his skills at SCOR, where he excelled as the Treaty Underwriting Manager for Engineering over nearly five years. During his tenure, he adeptly managed global and regional Engineering clients across the UK, Switzerland, Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), and the Middle East and Africa (MEA). His responsibilities included overseeing underwriting, claims, and portfolio management, ensuring a robust client service.
Earlier in his career, Monfared held the position of Lead Underwriter for Engineering at AXIS Capital, where he successfully managed the Engineering book within the Specialty Re segment of its Global Markets unit. He was responsible for the global line of business, focusing on underwriting Engineering treaties. His career also includes significant contributions as an Underwriter for Construction at Infrassure Ltd, where he was pivotal in covering all facets of Construction Risks underwriting.
